An hour or so later
Light washed over Lyda's eyes as she opened them slightly. She began to hear the other voices around her and felt herself in an odd position. She pushed herself up onto her elbows, and opened her eyes to see Arun's face inches away. Her eyes opened wide, and she propelled herself away quickly.
"I'm sorry!" She looked down.
He doesn't seem to have a problem with it.
The spirits had too much laughter for their own good.

“You have been absent for an hour,” Arun informed her. “Is there someplace you need to be? If you are expected elsewhere, I suggest we leave. This visit has been much prolonged.” He put the hundred dollar bill in Cece’s hands. “I will send someone to fix your door, but I am afraid I cannot stay.” Cece nodded in understanding.

"My parents." It clicked in Lyda's mind.
"Oh no! I left to go pick up apples,"she looked at her watch,"almost three hours ago!"
Lyda unstably pushed herself up.
"You shouldn't walk me home. My parents-" Lyda's knees gave away.

Arun caught Lyda before she fell to the floor, pulling her up to lean on his shoulder. “I suppose that is out of the question,” Arun concluded. He straightened her hat and thanked Cece before assisting Lyda out the doorway. “Come,” he said to Ary, “unless you would prefer to remain with Cece for now.” Cece smiled at the child, sensing her presence in the corner of the room.

Lyda caught her balance and was soon able to walk without too much assistance.
How gentleman like, walking you home after you faint.
I'm sure he doesn't mind
However, it looks like you've either gotten very heavy recently, Lyda, or your man is very weak.
Lyda sighed.
As they neared her house, she stopped walking.
"This will be fine. My house is just up ahead." She pointed to the red brick house a few blocks away.

Arun shook his head. “I am not abandoning you to collapse on the side of the street.” He pressed her back to encourage her to continue walking. “Please, allow me to escort you just a tad farther.” And so he did until she was in safe walking distance of her home. Arun bade her farewell, and turned to the familiar alleys for privacy. He leaned against the brick walls and cursed, his wound bleeding through the bandages to his clothes. He supported himself against the walls until he came to his house. Once inside he shouted a string of curses and summoned Gannon.

“Please, rest sir,” Gannon pleaded with his master. Arun refused to lie on the couch. “Sir, I cannot remove the bullet if you are unwilling to let me…” Arun sighed and clamped his eyes shut as he relaxed backwards. Gannon brought a bag of ice to numb the wound. After five minutes, Gannon took a knife into the hole to dig out the bullet. Arun grimaced. When it was removed, Gannon doused the area with vodka and left to the kitchen to retrieve the hot knife on the stove. Arun’s breathing increased, knowing what was coming next. His butler returned, a steaming blue butcher knife in his hand. “Look away sir; it will hurt less.” The seconds were extended as the old man pressed the metal to Arun’s flesh, cauterizing it.

“I WILL SLAUGHTER THAT IMPETUOUS IMP TWO THOUSAND TIMES OVER FOR THIS!” Arun bellowed.

Lyda tried to sneak in the door stealthily, but it was of no use. Her parents were standing in the foyer, staring at the door as she walked in.
"Oh. Hi." Lyda had to think of something quick.
"Don't 'Oh. Hi' us. Where have you been for the past three hours?" Her father was mad.
"You didn't even bring home any apples." Her mom just wanted the darn fruit.
"I was out to get the apples when I found a church, and then, I fainted."
You forgot the part about being kidnapped.
"Don't lie to us. We saw you with that man!"
"It's not what it seems like. I fainted, and he wanted to make sure I got home safely." There was no use at this point trying to reason though. Her father was set in his ways.
"I refuse to have my daughter running around with 20 year old men, acting like a tramp!"
"Nothing happened!"
"You are never leaving this house again. Do you understand that?!" Her father was screaming at the top of his lungs. "What if the neighbors saw you? Flirting with old men. He's probably a demigod, too. You've ruined this entire family!"
"Is that all you think about?! You and your stupid reputation! Have you ever thought about my side?!"
Her father fell to the ground, yelling this time in pain as Lyda stood there horrified and with tears in her eyes.
Her mother was the first to understand.

"Lyda, stop! Stop!" Lyda's mom was crying almost as much as Lyda was.
Her father fell unconscious, and Lyda fell to her knees.
"You've become a monster."
"You knew all along." Lyda's voice became that of pure hatred and anger.
"No, I had a guess, but I'd always hoped that it wouldn't be true."
"You never told me."
"I didn't think that I would need to."
"You just went on your own little life, hiding and burying the secret of what you had done. Ignorant of the day that I would have to pay for your mistake."
Lyda. Settle down!
"I will not settle down! It's all your fault, mom. That I'm like this. You're the monstrosity. Not me."
"Get out of my house."
Lyda's eyes and face became lifeless. "It's your fault."
A bang was heard as her mother's body dropped to the foyer floor, and Lyda began her bloodless rampage.

Arun remained still as Gannon placed sterile gauze on the wound. In a few weeks, it would blend in with the other countless scars on Arun’s body. He unhurriedly lifted himself up and slipped into his shirt. “Damn humans. They are so ignorant. If guns cannot kill me, why use them? They might as well cut off my head and burn me rather than wasting time and energy with impractical games.” Gannon made no comments to his master’s remarks. Arun stared at the bottle of vodka, lost in thought. Then he brought the glass to his mouth and took a swig, relieving his stress for the moment and embracing the silence of his home.

An army of living dead was slowly being built up behind her, as each new person that came into contact with Lyda was added to the group without second thought. Voices rang endlessly through her head, but Lyda could not care anymore. She felt numb to all the pain, guilt, and sadness that had overcome her earlier, leaving only hatred left to dig inside of her.
The whole street was filled with an eerie silence. Only Lyda's steps could be heard.
You have to stop, Lyda
What are you doing, you beast!
Each voice had another thing to add.
Sweetie, you must calm down.
"Never call me that again. You're not my mother. A true mother would try to protect her child, not throw her child to the wolves."
Lyda's hat had been blown off completely for some time now. With each use of her ability, more and more of her hair turned to a blazing royal purple. Her ears achieved an even greater height of design, and without a second look, she was deemed a demigod.

Lyda had nearly a hundred followers by the point when she stood in front of the door, gripping tightly to the key to his house.
If anything, leave here, Lyda. He has nothing to do with this.
I didn't have anything to do with this either.
Me either.
Or me.

"Shut up. This doesn't concern any of you." Lyda's voice was still toneless.
The key made a loud noise as it turned the lock on the front door.

The front door creaked open. Arun lurched over to greet whoever was entering. “Lyda,” he said in surprise, “are you feeling well?” He invited her in, closing the door behind her.

Lyda knew that she shouldn't had come, but it seemed that her body moved upon its own will. She tried her best to hold onto the knot which kept back her powers. She concentrated and tried to hold back. Arun was not her target. Arun was not her target.
"I-,"she stopped. Her eyes altered in color to the same burning purple, and the knot rapidly come undone.

A pain surged through Arun’s head, sending him reeling to the floor. “Ly-da,” he choked. His eyes became slits. “Stop… this… nonsense.” He looked up at her. “Ly…da…stop.”

Everyone else before Arun had similarly ordered Lyda to stop, but she had never listened. His voice echoed in her head, and no other voice was heard except his. Lyda dropped to the floor. Her hands flew up to her head as she soon felt the pain she inflicted on Arun now in her own head. It increased until she was sure that her head would undoubtedly explode. Then, it vanished, and Lyda was left on the ground with tears streaming down her face.

Arun rubbed his temples and rested beside her. “You… are a troublesome one,” he chuckled. Sorely, he reached into his pant pocket and fished for a handkerchief. He slid it across the wooden floorboards until it was a foot from her. “…Are you well?” he asked with concern woven in his voice.

Lyda whimpered. "I'm angry at the world: My mother had lied to me, my father isn't really my father, my so-called-father doesn't care about me, and now I have a bunch of people yelling at me inside my head." Her hair was fanned around her, and each breath was harder then the last. Lyda made no attempt to reach for the handkerchief. She had decided to stay face down on the ground until all her pain magically went away.

“Come, now,” Arun said. “What is done is done. We can do nothing but accept what has happened. It is a common fact of life that we all must suffer through.” He smoothed her hair to the side and rubbed her back. “Would you like a hot tottie?” he offered, unsure of how to console her.

"No! I just killed masses of people! I deserve to die."
I'll agree with that.
Me too.

Almost all of them agreed with that condition.
"Kill me, Arun."

“Out of the question!” Arun objected. “Never fall so deep in self pity as to question the significance of your life. Regardless of what you do, never lose hope in yourself. It is not your time to die. I refuse to hear such pathetic words escape your lips.” He brushed her hair behind her ear. “Come off the floor, Lyda. I swear the anguish will end. Put trust in me.”

Lyda looked up at him. Her eyes remained the same awful color.
"If I'm not stopped, I won't be stopped."
Every single person had their own perspective and comment about her situation.
She screamed and put her hands to her head.
"Shut up! All of you! Be quiet!"
Why should we? You can't do anymore to us. We're already dead.
She whimpered softly as she started her way to try to sit up.

"KYA" Dam kicked down the door of an nearly empty room. In that room was a mattress on the floor, countless amounts of junk, and on display on one of the walls laid a dozen different types of swords. The only light bulb to the room was burnt out. This use to be his home. He looked to the floor moving around countless items looking for something specific. He found what he was looking for, a splinter. After attaching it to his arm he looked up toward the sword racks. " Well i ain't got my gun anymore" he said. Dam picked out three weapons that were on display. He chose another katana that he tied around his back, a small dagger that he fit into his left sock, and finally a huge barbaric sword that was 5 feet long that he carried on his shoulder without a sheath. He stood in the door frame and looked back at his long lost home. Now that he knows where the demon lives, he was determined to kill him.

She released a sobbing chuckle.
"Can you tell the dead people to stop talking? They won't listen to me."
Hey, I would be preferred to be called by my name instead of dead person.
Good luck trying to get Lyda to remember your name. I've been with her for about three years, and I'm still not sure that she knows mine.
